If you want food and you're leaving from terminal 5 - eat by the A gates! Thee is no food places once you get to the B and C gates. I should of had that fish and chips.
A different perspective
What do you see on a 4 hour drive across a country? Lots of malls!!!
I spent 3 weeks walking 400 kilometres across the country and I didn't see one mall, movie theatre or big box store. Turns out they are all along the highway! Every time we enter or leave a city we drive past at least 4 malls as including IKEA, big Eroski Consumer stores, superMercados and movie theatres inside each mall.
Turns out your view is just a matter of perspective!
The trip I took
Here are my GPS tagged locations for this trip. The map is kinda cool. We walked to just before Gijon and then took the train to Luarca I the far west of the map.
Not one day of rain
Joan and I now have new names for the rain covers - no rain covers!!!! Brilliant! Right! Well it helped that each time we put them on the threatened rain never appeared. I hope Joan continues to have as much good fortune. Could be just my rain cover chases the rain away!
Weekend at the beach!
With my walking over, we jumped forward 100km to a town I loved last time - Luarca. Spectacular ocean walks and great views. We found fabulous people, great food and a cheap place to stay. Joan will walk the next 4 days to get back there.
Day 20 - Train to Luarca
My trip is coming to a close, I finished walking yesterday and then took a taxi to Villaviciousa, Bus to Gijon and Train to Oviedo. I am taking two days in Luarca, a seaside village further west, then heading back to Bilbao for my plane Monday morning.
It has been a great Camino, even with the bugs, and I will happily return the next time I have some free time.
Day 19 - La Isla to Castiello de Selorio 13km
My last day. By noon it was time for lunch and a faster mode of transportation. So we walked 13km from La Isla to Castiello de Selorio.
Day 18 - ribadesella to la Isla
Day 17 to the beach
We walked our 16km then took the train to the hostel at the beach. Great day!
Day 17 - Playa del Poo - Ribadesella 16km walking, 10km train😏

Day 14 - cont'd

Day 13 - Cundon to Santilliana Del Mar
We went from Cundon by train to Barreda then we walked from there to Santillana del Mar 6km or so.
We dropped our bags at the hostel, and walked around, sat and had drinks, did some sightseeing, had more drinks, went to the pharmacy for foot remedies, and went for lunch at two, with drinks. Dinners at 8, more drinks and then bed at 10pm. The second map is us wandering around town.
